OpenSea Data Breach

OpenSea, the leading NFT marketplace, disclosed that they suffered a data breach in a blog post. The breach took place with a third-party email service provider, Customer.io. “If you have shared your email with OpenSea in the past, you should assume you were impacted. We are working with Customer.io in their ongoing investigation, and we have reported this incident to law enforcement,” said OpeanSea in a statement.

According to data by Dune Analytics, more than 1.8 million users have purchased through the Ethereum network on OpenSea.

OpenSea went on to warn users to stay vigilant about their email practices and be alert for email impersonators. “Please be aware that malicious actors may try to contact you using an email address that looks visually similar to our official email domain, ‘opensea.io’ (such as ‘opensea.org’ or some other variation),” it added.

I’ve been curious about Web3 for some time and jumped at the chance to partner with a leader like Binance because it aligns perfectly with what I usually do: make complex stuff easy and fun for everyone,” Lame stated.

Lazarus Group Behind Harmony Heist

According to Elliptic, a London-based blockchain analysis provider, the Harmony Bridge hack is consistent with other hacks attributed to the Lazarus Group. The Lazarus Group is a cybercrime syndicate with links to the North Korean government. On the 24 of June, Harmony Bridge suffered a cyberattack, and lost $100 million worth of cryptocurrency.

Elliptic highlighted several factors in the Harmony Bridge attack that point to the Lazarus Group. One of them is that the hacker deposited the stolen funds to Tornado Cash. Another is the timing of the attack, which coincided with Asia-Pacific (APAC) nighttime hours.
